Advanced Sedation Dentistry Makes The Difference
Some “sleep dentists” or “gentle dentists” can offer their patients only pills or inhaled gasses for relaxation. At Advanced Sedation Dentistry, we give you more choices. Some options will even help you forget the entire treatment. Dr. Len Futerman is Board-Certified in Dental Anesthesiology, allowing him to offer the full spectrum of sedation.
The Right Level of Sedation for You
Your treatment needs, medical conditions and level of anxiety will help you and Dr. Futerman determine the right level of sedation, from mild to moderate to deep:
- Level 1: a calm and comfortably relaxed state
- Level 2: conscious sedation or near sleep, but still responsive
- Level 3: deep sedation or general anesthesia
Only Dental Anesthesiologists (including Dr. Futerman) are trained to utilize the entire range of sedation, including the deepest level: general anesthesia. While other dentists complete a “rotation” – or several months training – in anesthesiology, dental anesthesiologists complete two to three years of a full-time, hospital-based residency within the anesthesiology department.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Depending on the options you and Dr. Futerman choose, you may be given a small pill to relax you prior to your appointment. Your companion will bring you to our office, where you’ll settle into our welcoming office suite. Dr. Futerman will give you one or more sedatives (relaxants) and anesthetics (painkillers) to ensure you remain anxiety- and pain-free during and throughout the procedure. We monitor your comfort level constantly, and can adjust the medications instantly to provide more or less sedation as needed to give you a totally relaxed and pleasant experience.
Following treatment, your companion will return you home to enjoy a restful day. Most patients are left with vague memories of a calm, easy visit to our office – and a wonderful new perspective on dental treatment!

Our patients’ safety is our utmost concern. Our dental suites are equipped with the same medications and safety equipment as your local hospital operating room. Under Dr. Futerman’s care, you’ll be monitored constantly and enjoy all the safety of a hospital in our comfortable office setting.
